IPOH, December 3, 2016 - Rohingya Solidarity Program & Awareness Ummah has run smoothly at Masjid Sultan Azlan Shah, Jalan Raja Musa Mahadi yesterday. Joint program between Perak Mufti Department, Perak Islamic Religious Department, and the Committee of the Mosque of Sultan Azlan Shah is intended to create awareness and to open the eyes of all Muslims in the country, particularly in the State of the suffering experienced by relatives of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.

Invited speakers were Mr Haji Mohd Azmi Bin Abdul Hamid, Chairman of the Malaysian Islamic Organisations Consultative Council (MAPIM). He was an activist who is very experienced and has participated in many humanitarian missions around the world, including Palestine and Myanmar. In his speech yesterday, he has explained the origin of the Rohingya and Arakan Islamic Sultanate according to history, and to expose the atrocities against them by the Myanmar government.

The program was attended by about 300 people including the ethnic Rohingya who have been in this country. Also present were Perak Islamic Religious Department (JAIPK) Dato 'Haji Mohd Yusof bin Haji Husin, Deputy Mufti, Sahibus Samahah Tuan Zamri Bin Hashim and chief imam of Masjid Sultan Azlan Shah, Ustaz Syed Muzaffar Bin Syed Azlan as the host.

After the talk, the Rohingya Solidarity Fund was launched by Islamic Religious Department (JAIPK), Dato 'Haji Mohd Yusof bin Haji Husin and collections were made by officers. So far, the accumulated collections is approximately RM7,000.
